A total number of 2146 civil servants have retired from service from January to date in Jigawa state.
This was disclosed by the executive secretary Jigawa state and local government contributory pension scheme Malam Kamilu Aliyu Musa in a press briefing shortly after disbursement gratuities to those who retired from service within November and December this year in his office.
He explained further that a total sum of N9, 403,168,339.49 was paid to retirees as their entitlement.
The secretary explained that from January to date 588 staff in the ministries retired from service and 468 people retire within the 27 local government areas in the state and 507 local education staff also retired.
According to the secretary, those who died before retirement from the record show that the staff of the ministries was 116 people and from the local government areas are 151 and 128 people from local education authorities which made a total of 395 people.
The secretary said the state government has paid their death benefits which amount to the sum of N958,738,048.72 while those that died after retirement were 152 people, both from state, local government and local education authorities, adding that at the state level, those who dies were 56 people, while those who died at the local government level were 44, as those for local education were 52 and that a total of N156,439,535.18 has been paid to them.
Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu further explained that the board has refunded eight percent contribution to 33 persons amounting to the sum of N5,349,715.67 to those at the state level while at the local government level were only three people and they were paid a total sum of N308,820.99 and the local government education authority who are 36 in number received the sum of N5,658,536.66.
Kamilu charged the general public to expose any person who demands anything from them with the intention to assist them in receiving their benefits.
