The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has dismissed a report by one of the leading newspapers claiming that its governorship candidate for the 2027 election, Engr Umar Suleiman, is to be replaced by the party.
The party described the report as false and politically motivated by detractors.
In a statement issued and made available, the party said its governorship candidate, Ambassador Engr Umar Suleiman, remains the duly elected and recognised flag bearer of the party in the state.
The statement, signed by the Director-General of the Engr Umar Suleiman Campaign Organisation, Elder Mark Wosi, said there had been no replacement, withdrawal, step-down or negotiations concerning Suleiman’s candidacy. It urged the electorate to disregard what it described as rumours intended to mislead the public.
The statement noted that the endorsement of its candidate by the chairmen of the 21 local government areas underscored the unity within the party’s ranks and reaffirmed the validity of his mandate.
According to the statement, the party remains focused on its campaign agenda of building “An Adamawa That Works” and called on its supporters to remain steadfast despite what it described as misinformation.
The ADC urged residents of the state to ignore the rumours and continue supporting its governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 election.
