2023: Ex-Gov Saminu Turaki Set  Decamp To  PDP, As He Holds A Closed-Door Meeting With Ex-Gov Sule Lamido

A former Jigawa State Governor, Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, who represented Jigawa North West in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011, is set to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Universal Reporters gathered that the former Governor held a 2-hour closed-door meeting with also former Jigawa state Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido in his hometown Bamaina yesterday.

It was learned that Saminu has been looking for alternatives,  as a competent source hinted that it was true that Saminu was in Bamaina for a closed-door meeting with Sule Lamido and his son Mustapha Sule Lamido and all the stakeholders.

The source further said that they were invited by Sule Lamido to his house in Kano for a crucial meeting with Saminu Turaki.

“I am sure Saminu is going to decamp today, though it has not been made official, that Saminu has decamped to our party, the PDP.”

Speaking further to our reporter, he said, The political plan is that Saminu will contest for Senate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to represent Jigawa North-West in the 2023 election because the calculation is that Saminu is the only choice in that area as far as popularity and acceptability are concerned.

He explained that PDP officials will meet at the state party Headquarter in Dutse to receive the Bauchi state governor who is scheduled to be in the state for his consultation with PDP delegates in the state and immediately after the event,  they will move to Kano for a crucial meeting with Sule Lamido in his house in Kano.

The source stated that they have confidence that after the meeting with Sule Lamido,  Saminu Turaki will declare his intention of joining the PDP and make a formal declaration to contest for the senate seat.
