2015: We Are Committed To Peace- Gov Dankwambo By Kalshingi H Jedidah

Ahead of the 2015 general elections rescheduled for May 28th and April 14th 2015. The Executive governor of Gombe State and gubernatorial candidate of PDP in the state Alh Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has stated that, the state government, and  the ruling party People’ s Democratic Party PDP in the state will continue to commit to peace even as working towards ensuring peace has prevailed throughout the electioneering period and beyond.
Dankwambo who was speaking at meeting held for signing of peace accord in agreement for peace between political parties and all stakeholders in Gombe today, emphasised that his administration will always ascribe to peace as the necessary means of achieving meaningful development without which nothing good can be achieved.
The governor, who also expressed commitment towards ensuring safety of lives and properties of the people, also explained that, politics should be seen to place the people’ interest above any other thing. Adding that his administration will and not support anything that will bring divides or threatens the peaceful coexistence among the people.
“On behalf of myself, government, my political party I want to assure you that we are committed to peace, I also want to assure you that we will not do anything that will cause disharmony or in any way cause pain to the good people of Gombe State and I assure you we will do exactly what we have said”.
According to him,his administration is seeking for second term to lead the people and work towards meaningful development and not to bring hardship or destruction upon the people.
Meanwhile politicians and representatives of 12 various political parties have signed for the peace agreement and witnessed, the Independent National Electoral Commission, some of Civil Society groups, security operatives, and other stakeholders.
The State Commissioner of Police CP Abdullahi Kudu Nma stated that, signing of the peace accord by the various political parties will serve as an agreement between them and that, no political party or any of its members should violate the agreement.

He called on all the political parties and politicians to exercise restraint in all their political dealings, as the Police State Command will not condone any act of criminality of violation of law.
