Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has cautioned contingents of the 19th Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association to exhibit maturity at the ongoing sport fiesta holding in the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, Nasarawa state.
The Deputy Governor, Silas Ali Agara cautioned the contingents to shun stimulants and any sport enhancement drugs; he gave the disclosure while declaring the 19th NIPOGA Games open.
Agara said the use of stimulants and any other drugs that would enhance performance during the fiesta would deprive the athletes a better chance of representing the country.
Urging all the athletes to take advantage of NIPOGA Games to represent the nation, saying the mainstay of the Game was to foster unity, peace and friendship amongst the existing polytechnic.
“NIPOGA Games is a talent hunt who would represent the country; he however averred that hosting the games in the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa would boost the socioeconomic activities of the community and the state”.
Silas Ali Agara assured the organizers and the officiating committee of the unflinching support of the state government in the ten days of the fiesta.
The state government has also promised to ensure total security during the 19th NIPOGA Games holden at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa.
The executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Dr.Mas’ud Adamu Kazaure commended the rector of hosting institution and the organising committee.
Dr.Kazaure opined that NBTE holds NIPOGA Games with high esteem considering the significant role it plays in in fostering friendliness and improved relationship in the polytechnic system.
The executive Secretary urged the participants to strive hard to win Laurels not by all means but by honorably and by decency to uphold the tenets of the Games.
The rector of the hosting Polytechnic, Professor Shettima Saidu commended the government of Nasarawa state for the financial support it accorded to the NIPOGA Games.
Over 4000 contingents are to performed in the following Games of Football, Volleyball, Badminton, Hockey, Tennis, Table Tennis, Handball, Basketball, Taekwondo, Athletic, Chess, the Games are expected to terminate in the next ten days.
