18-Year-Old Katsina Girl Freed In Foiled Kidnap Attempt

The Katsina State Police Command has foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl abducted by suspected armed bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Tuesday at about 11:53 p.m. when suspected bandits invaded Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa Town and abducted the victim, identified as Aisha Kabir.

“The Katsina State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Ali Umar Fage, successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued an 18-year-old female victim in Danmusa Local Government Area following a swift response to a distress call,” the statement read.

Aliyu said the Divisional Police Officer in Danmusa immediately mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier tactical patrol team after receiving the report.

He added that the operatives trailed the hoodlums and engaged them in a gun duel, overpowering the assailants and forcing them to abandon the victim and flee with suspected gunshot injuries.

“Quickly, upon receipt of the report, the DPO mobilised an APC tactical patrol team and gave the hoodlums a hot chase.

“The team engaged the bandits in a gun duel and overpowered them, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee the scene with suspected varying degrees of gunshot injuries,” the statement added.

The police said the victim was rescued and immediately taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being reunited with her family.

Aliyu added that bush-combing operations were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, commended the officers involved in the operation for their swift response and professionalism.

“The abducted victim was successfully rescued and immediately taken to the nearest hospital, medically evaluated and safely reunited with her family.

“Bush-combing operations are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing suspects,” he said.

Fage reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
