A fresh attack has rocked Pinau Community of Wase Local Government Area as a group of suspected bandits attacked Pinau town where they sporadically shoot at persons leaving no fewer than 15 persons dead in the market square on Sunday afternoon.

It was gathered that the alleged bandits laid ambush by positioning the men that started shooting sporadically inside Pinau market in  Wase Local Government area of Plateau State killing at least 15 persons while scores of others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The incident happened on Sunday in the evening after the villagers had finished their weekly Community Market.

It is alleged that there was a misunderstanding between the two families which later snowballed into each of them laying claim that they’re going to invite mercenaries outside to invade them, but some of them were thinking it was just a play until they were taken unaware.

A business in Wase LGA who refused his name on print explained further that the crisis started with kidnapping on the road from Wase to Pinau causing sleepless nights.

According to him, when he arrived at the market with he met with one of the residents who warned him to be careful of the compound he intended spending the night in because there was likely rumour that some are coming to raid them.

A Member of the community, Hamman Sale, who also confirmed the attack on a telephone conversation, said the suspected bandits who invaded the community came from Zamfara State.

When contacted, the Spokesperson of the Plateau State Police Command ASP Gabriel Ubah, confirmed the attack at Pinau and said the Command is yet to get more details on the incident.

It was also gathered that before now, the bandits had attacked Sapiyo town, kidnapping a Nursing housewife and a prominent APC Chieftain close to the house of the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives Idris Wase.

However, efforts to speak with the chairman of Wase LGA prove abortive as his phone rang but he didn’t pick his call at the time of filing this report.
