Inferno: Gov. Abubakar sacks 16 state fire service management team members, promise to save lives, properties

Governor Mohammed Abubakar of Bauchi is said to have sacked about sixteen members of management team of the state fire service.

This was just as the governor has promised that the administration is poised to save lives and properties of its citizens.

The source who confided to this medium said, it may not be unconnected to the allege failure of the station in arresting the alarming rates of inferno in the State

The source added that this followed the governor’s reaction to the way and manner houses are being destroyed by fire in the state, without the allege intervention of the fire station.

It could be recalled that, the governor had initially procured fire fighting vehicles to the fire station on assumption in office as governor apparently to save life and properties.

It was learnt that some of the affected staff had their ranks down-sized to serve as a deterrent to other as well as to ensure productivity the system.

It was also gathered that the governor among other reasons has to take the punitive action allegedly lies on the grounds that the fire station did not report to government that their fire fighting vehicles had broken down thereby culminating to loss of properties in the state.

A reliable source from the fire service who crave for anonymity stressed that the director of the fire station was among the victims including his deputy among others.

It could be recalled that Abubakar had promise to save life and properties of its citizens following the procurement of fire fighting vehicles to curb the  indices of fire outbreak in the state.

Similarly, fire has razed down a resident of APC chieftain and a commissioner nominee in Bauchi metropolis burning all his properties.

The fire according to residents followed electrical combustion saying no fire fighting vehicle was seen in the scene.

The victim Alhaji Barau Ningi had told the state assembly that he was lucky to escape with his document kept inside the vehicle in preparatory to his screening as commissioner nominees.

” I have leave everything to Allah as he give and take” said Ningi.”

The fire service information officer Abubakar Bala told this medium that he cannot confirm the development at moment saying the station will make its position known later.
