As gathered by this medium, Agabi a retired Director in the Federal Ministry of Finance and Account in the Ministry of Education, and also a retired Director of Administration in the Ministry of Transport.
Prior to his, winning  the 2015 PDP Gubernatorial primary election, Agabi’s posters flooded the streets and roads of Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital, it was gathered before the primary election that he was going to withdraw from primary for the former Governor of the State Akwe Aliyu Doma, but Agabi capitulated on the crisis between crisis between the trio of  Solomon Ewuga, Chris Mamman and Labaran Maku, over who will be endorsed by the Eggons as their candidate; a scenario that gave Agabi the chance to stay put in the primary as he was backed by Solomon Ewuga.
Meanwhile many believe that Agabi is not the right man that can deliver the people of Nasarawa from the doldrums of misrule, as he has many sins upon his head, even as corruption also encircles him.
“Who knows Agabi in the party politics, he is politics is just based on posters and billboards, we don’t know him, he was just opportune as he took the differences between the three guber candidates of Eggon origin as won the primaries,” says a party stakeholder who spoke to this medium.
According to stakeholder who spoke universalreporters247.com who pleaded anonymity said; “Infact this man you asking me about his antencedents has no antecedents, he is not an option to Al-Makura, for the 2015 general election. I fear for my party. He is not straight forward. I can tell you that since winning the Primary it just on Thursday that he came to Lafia to hold meeting with party stakeholders, is this the quailities of a governorship candidate?”
The truth is this, this man you see don’t have even a large follower of PDP stakeholders, he doesn’t command the respect of the PDP House of Assembly members, he is from the smallest tribe in Nasarawa State, Aki in Ugah Community of Lafia, a tribe that their votes are just incosequensial, as their electoral votes will just little or nothing to him emerging the governor of the state.”
Meanwhile another stakeholder of the party also told this medium that; “ Agabi is deceiver, he has not truth in his mouth, infact instead of him to become the Governor is better for the current governor to continue, because he will not be any better than Al-Makura.”
“We are all aware of his antics, he lacks the leadership quality to lead the people of Nasarawa state to the promise land, infact he is a pure deceiver. We know that it was the National Leadership of the party that made him to get te ticket, because in their mind the think he is the only one that can remove  Al-Makura, but he is not, he cannot, he doesn’t has the power,” said another party stakeholder.
Investigations by this medium shows that the said Guber candidate of the PDP, worked with Benue Cement company for 16 years, however joined the Federal Civil Service as a Deputy Director in 1996; having enrinched himself in the Federal Civil Service, set up Yumaco International Academy in Lafia a private school, that operates; Day care, Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Sections. Infact our investigations shows that the school is the highest and biggest private school in the whole of Nasarawa State. He also has a car mart situated behind the State PDP secretariat in Lafia.
Universalreporters247.com investigation reveals that in 2011 when Agabi wanted to vie for the Senate, of 2011 general elections, there was a war of words ensued  between the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related offences Commission, (ICPC) and Yusuf Agabi, over some clear evidence of gross financial fraud committed by Agabi during period  of active service as a public servant, while the Agabi then in 2011 told his supporters in Lafia that he has no case pending, the Commission said he has one before it.
Infact universalreporters247.com learnt that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) then confirmed the interrogation of a Yusuf Agabi who was a former Director of Finance and Account in the ministry, Yusuf Agabi, over alleged mismanagement of N1billion. It was also learnt that there was an ongoing case which commenced since February 2010 at High Court 4, Abuja vide Charge CR/44/10: Federal Republic of Nigeria vs Yusuf Agabi, Dr. Okey Ikechukwu and Mr. Stanley Brown (who were at the material time all members of Staff or Media Consultant of the Federal Ministry of Education).
According to information at our disposal ICPC summoned more officials of the Ministry of Education, including consultants linked with the alleged fraud.
As gathered the controversial N1billion was voted for the Education Reform Project (ERP) by the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo between June 2006 and May 2007.
According to a statement from ICPC in 2010 said; “The ICPC had already quizzed a Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Aboki Zhawa, now retired and the former Director of Finance and Account, Yusuf Agabi, who is now in the Ministry of Transport, as part of its resolve to unravel the means by which the sum was alleged to have been mismanaged.
“The two top officials were quizzed for three days last week by ICPC interrogators on the roles they had played in the disbursement of the sum said to have been voted for Education Reform Programme by the ministry.
“However, none of them had so far been able to thoroughly defend the allegations levelled against them in respect of the disbursement of the huge sum without Due Process, as they were said to have recourse to buck passing.
“The two officials were to explain reasons why they authorised huge cash withdrawals and which they handed to corporate bodies and the ministry’s consultants for the execution of the Reform Programme, contrary to the regulations guiding financials matters in the civil service.
“The rule specifies payments by ministries and governments to corporate organisations should be made in cheques.
“The top officials, however, admitted that the then Minister of Education was the sole authority to give approval for money to be taken from the ministry’s overhead account to finance the reform activities, which was not appropriated for.
“Although the officials were both released on bail before the close of work last week, the ICPC investigators instructed them to produce the terms for the reform programme and the approved budget for the execution.
“The two are expected to return to the ICPC National Headquarters in Abuja to face further interrogations.”
The ICPC said its investigations had “revealed that advances were said to have been granted to a number of staff by the then Minister and the Permanent Secretary, purportedly, to execute the Education Reform Programme.”
