A young activist Muhammad Salees Gamawa has described youths as the solution to the leadership uncertainties that declines Africa most populous country.
Gamawa stated this shortly after the National Youth Conference at International Conference Center Abuja where he along with others represented Bauchi State in the Three-Days conference which youth from most parts of the world attended.
Gamawa express youth readiness to intervene into Nigerian politics to bring the long awaited change. He said Nigerian youths has the God-giving talent, academic training and social experience to move country to the greater level.
The social commentator said Nigerian youths have been only marginally involved in civic participation, electoral participation and providing a political voice, adding that it was due to lack of quota systems in political processes and in political parties.
He further expressed his satisfaction with courage of some youths especially Bauchi State Youths for their concern of about the state’s affairs.
“Despite this unfavorable context, youth have managed to negotiate and force their way to political participation and economic success, Bauchi State youth’s experience have provided an inspiring example about the determination of youth to fight for what they believe and bring about change” He added.
The former president of the National Union of Bauchi State Students call on the youths to shun away violence and embrace tolerance for Nigeria to progress.
“As the youth of this country we must learn to be tolerant by respecting our diversities, we must also be wise to avoid being used by others to achieve their personal interests, we should not forget that among the flocking seeking of our votes are selfish politicians whose children are in safe place abroad but want us to foment trouble should their interest be threatened by election results, we must reject politicians asking us to cause violence if we are willing to make our stand known, then it will send a signal to proponents of violence that we have changed and we want change in the way elections are conducted” Gamawa advised.
