You Lied, On The Invasion And Killings In Kpaidna And Other Villages In Bosso, Niger Police Commissioner Tells Army

The Police Command in Niger State yesterday while testifying at the judicial commission of Inquiry set up on the invasion of kpaidna and four other villages in Bosso LGA stated that the Nigerian Army lied when it said there was criminality existing in the above mentioned villages.

Firing a bombardment at the Army, the Police Command said the Army has not been helpful to say its real motive for invading Kpaidna and four other villages in Bosso Council of the state.

According the Niger State Police Commissioner, Alhaji Zubairu Muazu while testifying before the panel of inquiry, he said the attacked villages had no previous record of law-breaking,  which he said has made the Army’s ‘cordon and search’ operation Army pointless.

Speaking he said; “There has never been any report of gun running or armed banditry in the area before the military invasion,” he said, adding that on assumption of office nine days before the incident, he never received handover notes on the area being a dangerous spot

He also condemned the Army for carrying out the ‘cordon and search operation’ alone, when it could have carried out such operation as a joint one with the Police leading while the Army provides shield and that would have been after a search warrant must have been gotten.

Speaking he said;  “It is important and necessary that we all join hands together in situations like this so as to prevent future occurrence.”

Also speaking at the same panel, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also stated that it was not aware of the pan to carry out any operation even when the army has claimed there was.

According to the State Commander of the NSCDC, Mr. Philip Ayuba  he added that it was even the save our soul call of the villagers that involved his command to the area.

He also said; “No issue of gun running or arms stockpile by these communities was discussed at any security meeting that I attended.

Meanwhile, the commission resumes sitting on Monday.
