Instead, the discovery of mineral resources in the area should be a source of community development but not to inflict pain on the residents.

The situation in Kure, a Mada inhabitant, is been a story with differences. It was a story of pain and agony, as the discovery of lithium that has caused unrest among the people.

Universal Reporters can authoritatively reveal that in June 2024 the State Government has directed the closure of the mining site in June 2024 due to some discrepancies attributed to the immediate past Commissioner, Honorable. Yakubu  Kwanta.

The Chairman of Kure Community Council Glane Madaki Mudu stated this while speaking to a cross section of journalists recently.

He noted that the community has been in existence for decades without the Government’s presence as the residents have been at the mercy of God.

Mr. Madaki Mudu lamented that some powers that be in the State are putting machinery on a motion to mortgage the community, a situation that will go against the interests of the Community, he added.

The Chairman Kure Community Council alleged that papers were been prepared as a document of sale of the hilltop that lithium was discovered.

Glane voiced out that the community land was sold to some wealthy individuals without prior knowledge of the residents

He attributed the situation to a lack of voices to speak and defend the community in the event of such challenges.

Meanwhile, the immediate past Commissioner of Environment, Honorable Yakubu  Kwanta in a telephone conversation maintained that Timadix Geomin Consult is going about with fake consent letters which he confirmed emanated from one family.

The immediate past Commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Honorable Yakubu  Kwanta affirmed that the consent letters of Timadix Geomin Consult are from one family within a community.

The then Commissioner while speaking on why he closed the mining site at Kure said Timadix Geomin Consult’s consent letter was fake because a Paramount ruler in the community was not carried along.

He gave the hint during a telephone conversation with this medium.

Recalling that the State Government closed the mining site to avoid a breakdown of law and order in the community.

During an interphase with Ogelebe Monday at Igwo community, he confided that the mandate letter presented by Timadix Geomin Consult is genuine, not fake as speculated by the former Commissioner.
