You Have No Moral Right To Conduct Council Polls In Nasarawa State, PDP Chairman Tells Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission

The chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Francis Orogu has described the scheduled May 26 Local Government election in the State as a decoy to rig election by the All Progressives Congress.

He disclosed this during an interview with selected Journalists at the party headquarter in Lafia, he averred that the PDP was not communicated in the preparation to hold council election

Orogu said the preparation by the APC was built on illegal structure of the electoral umpire ,adding that members of the State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) did not form a quorum.

Others reasons given by the Chairman includes

The People’s Democratic Party was not consulted or contacted over the preparation for council polls

Majority of electorate especially Tiv’s were displaced from their permanent place of abode

“This not the right time to conduct Local Government election,as I’m interacting with you people I’m yet to lay my hands on a copy of the time table”.

“The State Government should be guided by Nigerian constitution no matter what interest the governor is protecting” he said.

The acting Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission,Aliyu Muhammad Dogara assured Journalists of credible ,free and fair elections.

He gave the assurance that the electoral umpire with the collaborative effort with the security agencies would ensure that the forthcoming election is the best election.

He said the state government approved the release of N900 million for the election come May 26,2018.

He said the electoral umpire would work side by side with interest groups and political parties, monarchs, Civil Society Organizations and Religious groups to ensure that the election was peaceful.
