The Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board, (NSUBEB), Dr Kassim Muhammed Kassim says the board under his leadership is introducing a new initiative tagged “A A Sule leave no child behind project”
The essence Dr Kassim said is to ensure that every school age child residence in Nasarawa must be in school which is free, qualitative and accessible, noting that parents who failed to send their children to school risk legal penalties.
The NSUBEB chairman spoke on Sunday at the UBEC Modern Smart School, Lafia during the celebration of world teachers day which brought together education stakeholders, teachers, and Government representatives to honour the vital role of teachers in nation-building.
Dr. Kassim commended teachers for their dedication, resilience, and contribution to the growth of the education sector in the State and urged them to reflect on their performance and continue to uphold professionalism, discipline, and moral integrity in the discharge of their duties.
The Executive Chairman described teachers as role models and builders of future leaders, emphasizing the importance of lesson planning, continuous self-improvement, and sincerity of purpose in classroom delivery.
He assured teachers of the Board’s commitment to ensuring timely payment of salaries, entitlements, and other welfare packages, adding that he has inaugurated a committee to address all forms of nepotism in the board and call on teachers who gave various cases of improper placement to lodge their complaint to the committee.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nasarawa State Wing, Comrade Ishaka Mohammed Isa, expressed appreciation to God for the successful celebration and thanked the State Government for its continued support for teachers.
Comrade Isa commended the administration of Governor Sule for implementing several education-friendly policies, including,access to education for children of school age.
Other strides also includes the construction and renovation of classrooms,building of libraries and laboratories in secondary schools,oayment of NECO and WAEC fees for all students in secondary schools, amongst others.
The event underscored the global theme “Together for Teachers, Together for Tomorrow,” emphasizing unity, innovation, and shared responsibility in shaping the future of education.
