Zakka Yakubu Lekwe, the Accountant General of Nasarawa State said 4 Banks in the state were sealed over non-remittance of tax for the period of 10 years.

Lekwe in an interview says is a law for Banks to remit 10 percent of loan collected to the state government.

The AG said the tax was devoid of interest but Banks defaulted.

He in addition maintained that some of the Banks that complied were given 48 hours to harmonize all Banks account before re-opening.

In a letter AG/GEN/132/VOL.1/241 dated 18th December, 2017 The state government directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies that all transactions in all government Accounts should be suspended as from 18th December,2017.

He also compelled all MDAs to comply.
