The Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has applauded the Nasarawa state commissioner of police, Abubakar Bello for curbing the high rate of crime and criminality in the state.
The chairman, Suleiman Abubakar gave the hint when the newly inaugurated executive and members of the Chapel paid him a familiarization visit.
“We are here today to rebuild a new relationship with the police in the state, “he urged the commissioner to accord impetus to monthly briefing of members of the Chapel, saying by so doing will place the police on a higher pedestal.
The commissioner of police, Abubakar Bello while responding opined that the police will welcome constructive criticism; the commissioner said constructive criticism will make the Nigeria Police to work harder.
Bello reiterated that he will play an open door policy, stating that he will create a forum that will stem the tide of cordial working relationship with the Chapel.
The commissioner thanked the Chapel for the visit which he asserted was first of it kind since he assumed office, he also appreciate the press for the veritable role they play in portraying the Nigeria police in it fight on crime prevention.
“The press as an essential artery in nation building plays a significant role in the society calling on the press to maintain the tempo.
The immediate past secretary of the Chapel, Issac Okpoju of the News Agency of Nigeria in a vote of thanks eulogized the commissioner for working assiduously with the press.
