We Need Security Not Relief Materials, IDPs Tells Al-Makura

The Internally Displaced Persons in Former Local Government Secretariat in Awe has said they needed security not relief material.

Fedelis Tacha in an exclusive interview at the IDP camp buttressed that the nagging hiccups of Displaced persons was not donation of foodstuffs but the provision of security to border towns of Tunga in Awe Local Government.

Takcha averred that no presence of security in all the displaced communities in Awe,stating that the action of the state government potent danger to the people in the crisis stricken areas.

He further said no presence of health personnel at the Old Secretariat premises instead there was clinic on wheels but without health workers on ground

Fedelis maintained that he only saw two health workers attached to the truck on Thursday last week, adding that the health workers deserted the camp to oblivion.

He also lament over the high rate of open defecations by IDP’s in the surrounding bush causing health hazard.

The Interim Management Committee chairman of Awe called on individuals and politicians to accord support to the displaced persons.

Saying no donation is small considering the plight of the affected persons.

The Director General Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo campaign organization, Danjuma Musa while presenting the relief material donated by the member federal House of Representatives representing Awe,Doma, Keana federal constituency call for peaceful coexistence amongst the diverse ethnic groups.

Musa who donated cash, rice, maize and mats to the IMC chairman described Nasarawa state as one of the most peaceful state before.

Urging the citizenry to leave peaceful with one another, describing peace as a catalyst for rapid and even development of all nation.

No fewer than 400 IDP’s at press time we at the Old Local Government Secretariat camp, Awe the border Local Government of Nasarawa state sharing boundary with Benue state.
