Notwithstanding the N20m donated by the Federal Government to the management of Nasarawa State University, Keffi to halve water scarcity in the university community, The persistent unavailability of water still stuns the area.
It could be recalled that the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan for Youth and Student Affairs Comrade Jude Imagwe presented a N20 million cheque on behalf of the president to help solve the problem of water in and around the campus. But months after, the water crisis continues.
The students of Nasarawa state University Keffi,It could be recalled blocked Abuja-Keffi-Akwanga highway to demonstrate the scarcity of water on the campus and its host community, When Soldiers from Shittu Alao Barracks moved to the scene to disperse the protesters, but in the ensuing melee, two students  Emmanuel Buba, 300-Level Physics and Aminu Usman, 400-Level Geography  were hit by bullets.
Though the army denied that its troops were responsible for the students death, After the incident, members of the Joint Committee on Education, Water Resource and Security from the Nasarawa State House of Assembly visited the institution in the company of the Special Adviser on Youth and Students Affair to President Goodluck Jonathan, Comrade Jude Imagwe.
There is an indication that another round of acute water shortage may loom again, despite the financial assistant accorded to provide water to the university  has been whitewashed aftermath of the killings of scores during a peaceful protest by the students.
All effort to speak to the management of the institution claim abortive, The state of affairs persisted, causing myriad anxiety to students and other nearby communities occupied by students.
The looming scarcity of water is about affecting the academic activities of the institution, Hon.Hussaini Abubakar, The commissioner of Education, Science and Technologycommissioner Higher Education blame landlords for the failure of providing water to their renters.
“The provision of water remains the core responsibility of landlords, but not the government of Nasarawa state, He further said the majority of those clamoring for water scarcity are off-campus students.
The commissioner reiterated the fortitude and commitment of the government of Nasarawa state for the rejuvenation of Mada water works, Abubakar said an ample amount of money was earmarked for the maintenance of water project.

A level three student in an interview opined that water scarcity continues to potent quantum hindrance to academic activities in the institution, saying even in the past three years it was a same story.
