Violate Sanitation Law And Face Prosecution: Commissioner Warns

Nasarawa State commissioner of Environment and Natural Resources, Hon Yakubu Kwanta has warned commuters plying Abuja-Keffi and Akwanga -Lafia highway to comply strictly to this month environmental sanitation or face the full wrath of the law.

He gave the disclosure during a sensitization campaign to the executive chairman of Akwanga local government,  Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha and the paramount ruler of Akwanga, Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare at his palace on Thursday.

The commissioner of environment and natural resources thanked the royal father and the chairman for the warm reception, disclosing that the sensitization was meant to ensure the effective implementation of the exercise.

He commended the traditional ruler for mobilizing district and village heads ahead of this month sanitation exercise, saying the exercise will ensure a clean and healthy environment as well the council chairman for mobilizing the legislative arm and other key players ahead of Saturday sanitation.

“We decided to fix Saturday 23,2022 instead of next week due to sallah celebration, hoping that the general public will support us by complying strictly,adding that there will be no vehicular movement from 7:00 am to 10:00am.

The royal father Samson Gamu Yare appreciate the honorable commissioner for his untiring effort to create something out of nothing in the ministry refered to as a dormant ministry 

He lauded Hon. Yakubu Kwanta for exhibiting sportsmanship in moving the ministry to an enviable heights through his laudable initiative 

The traditional ruler called on the commissioner to extend his tentacle to the area of erosion, saying erosion has taken over some inhabitants in the state.

According to Gamu Yare,”I know that you and your team are coming to sensitize us on the issue of environmental sanitation I could have advice you to go to other places but not in Akwanga,he reiterated.

 Urging the ministry to forbide the use of chemical and organic  substances to pollute water as he said using such will not be tolerated in Akwanga local government area.

The Chun Mada said the people of Akwanga local government will be the best in times of cleanliness,he however opined that cleanliness is next to godliness.

Appealing to his people to come out in mass to support the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, calling on citizenry to shun illegal lumbering while calling on the state government to embark on tree planting.

“Charcoal itself deplete the environment by destroying the ozone layer which are subsistable to climate change

The executive chairman of Akwanga local government,Hon Safiyanu Isa Andaha lauded the commissioner for the choice of Akwanga.

*We in Akwanga will do more to improve on the recent sanitation exercise by mobilizing our people to participate fully”.

The Sarkin Nunku,Ibrahim Adamu in his speech appreciated the commissioner for the holistic effort to ensure cleanliness in the state.

While the deputy chairman of Akwanga local government,Hon Shuaibu Basau eulogized the commissioner of environment and natural resources for the choice of Akwanga for this month sanitation exercise.
