The Honorable Member, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Honorable Musa Ibrahim has disclosed that the verdict of the appeal court on his seat was just a temporary setback, noting that it would not affect his plans to his constituents.
He gave the hint in a chat with selected Journalists at his abode in Lafia at the weekend, urging his supporters to remain calm and resolute.
Hon.Musa said, despite the judgment of the appellate court his certificate of return remains valid as a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party at the State House of Assembly.
On the declaration of his seat and other lawmakers, the seat was vacated by the immediate past deputy speaker, Abel Bala ( PDP Nasarawa Eggon East) who presided over the Assembly during the 2024 budget presentation and election of the new speaker, Hon. Danladi Jata’u (APC Kokona West) and the new deputy Speaker, Mohammed Oyanki (PDP Doma North) following the Judgement of the appeal court sitting in the nation’s capital declaring the PDP candidate as the winner of Toto-Umaisha constituency, Hon Musa Ibrahim said he remain the representative of Doma South constituency.
“What transpired at the hallo chamber during a budget presentation by the former deputy speaker, Abel Bala was an error “He declared that his certificate remains valid for the period”.
Hon.Musa Ibrahim however explained that at the appeal court his opponent of the ruling party, Hon. John Osewu (APC) asked the court for four prayers which included adding one polling unit for re-run in Doka electoral ward, Agbashi electoral ward, where he confirmed that his opponent, Hon John Osewu have landslide victory over him
“In Agbashi electoral ward, my opponent has 150 votes as against me polling only 30 votes, retrieval of my certificate of return”. But the court ended up granting them one out of the four
The lawmaker representing the people of Doma South (Ekye) called on his teeming supporters to remain courageous by shunning blackmail and campaigns of calumny as well as shun politics of bitterness at all times.
“As a grassroots politician, I’m not in the school of thought of seeing politics as a “do or die affairs “but seeing politics as human development”.
He however added that his plans to provide bridges to link up communities like Agyere in Agbashi electoral ward and Angwan Mada in Doka electoral ward remain his dreams of providing livelihood to those who brought him to power.
According to him'” Doma South has produced many members of the House of Assembly before me, and I know I’m not the last lawmaker in Ekye, you will recall that Hon. Mohamad Ikushunta Ade was once there, We also produce Ahmed Oyibo, Anthony Obande, Late James Dangana and today I’m their representative.
“God gives power to whom he chooses and nobody can contest that”.
He said that the re-run would only be at Gidan Bassa 1, In the Rukubi electoral ward, where he added that he has a difference of less than 800 votes with his opponent.
Calling on his supporters of the NNPP to support the good work of the State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, while urging loyalist of the opposition party to remain calm following the judgement of the appeal court between, Governor Abdullahi Sule and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, David Emmanuel Ombugadu.
Saying chaos can never bring development but rather will divide the people more, describing peace as a catalyst for even and rapid development of every nation.
