Uzochukwu Ezenwanne Does Not Speak For Governor Obiano

Our attention has been drawn to a Facebook comment, purportedly authored by a certain Uzochukwu Ezenwanne, castigating President Goodluck Jonathan for failing the South East Region.

Following this ill-conceived comment, some mischievous online publications and social media commentators have made several malicious efforts to link Mr. Ezenwanne to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano. In pursuit of an inglorious agenda, this segment of the social media have spuriously identified him as a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Obiano and proceeded to attribute Ezenwanne’s tragic comments to him.

We wish to inform the general public that Uzochukwu Ezenwanne is neither an employee of the Anambra State government nor an aide in whatever capacity, to Governor Willie Obiano. Mr. Ezenwanne is not in any way connected to Governor Obiano or any of his close aides.

Consequently, whatever comments Mr Ezenwanne has made in private or public have absolutely nothing to do with Governor Willie Obiano and should be purely treated as his personal views.

We are fully aware that following the tremendous impact that Governor Obiano has had in his eight months in office, many Anambra youths on social media are inclined to defend him from the endless campaign of calumny mounted against his person in recent times. Governor Obiano appreciates these bold efforts by many enthusiastic youths to protect him from those who are yet to come to terms with his giant developmental strides in Anambra State.

However, it would be a grave error to categorize every social media commentator that makes a positive comment on the governor as “Obiano’s Aide” or his “SSA”. Unfortunately, a mischievous section of the social media has consistently done that for quite some time now in pursuit of an ignoble agenda.

We therefore urge the general public to disregard any comments that are whimsically attributed to Governor Obiano through Mr. Ezenwanne or any person(s) other than those who have been properly designated as spokesmen to the governor of Anambra State.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is on record that Governor Willie Obiano is one of the first Governors in Nigeria to declare an open support for the second term bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. It is also public knowledge that the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) which Governor Obiano presides over as the Chairman of Board of Trustees as well as the national Leader has adopted President Jonathan as its candidate in the coming elections. It is therefore preposterous for anyone to attempt to link Governor Obiano with any comment or efforts to cast aspersion on President Goodluck Jonathan.

This statement appears essentially for record purposes.
Thank you

Ifeanyi Aniagoh
Executive Assistant to Gov Obiano on Social Media
