Update On Sa’adu Zungur Model Primary And Secondary School, Bauchi

Education Commissioner Sanctions Private Schools.

Following the submission of the high powered committee to look into the affairs of the GCDSS Sa’adu Zungur, the following resolutions were considered and approved:
i) The former Principal, Vice Principal I, Vice Principal II and Discipline Master have been withdrawn from the school and are to report to the Ministry of Education Headquarters.

ii) New postings have been considered and approved with immediate effect as follows:

1. Musa Mudi Jahun from GTC Gumau is to take over as Principal of GCDSS Sa’adu Zungur.
2. Ubayo Moh’d B/Gana from GDSS Games Village, Bauchi is to take over as Vice Principal Admin.
3. Fati Isma’il from GCC Bauchi is to take over as Vice Principal Academic.

NB: FURTHER REORGANIZATION AND POSTING MAY FOLLOW.

III) Seven (7) of the eight (8) students who were the principal actors have been expelled, that is, with the exception of the innocent girl who resisted the overture.

iv) The PTA of the school was observed to be in a state of comatose and therefore, directed to be alive to its responsibilities by being functional, that is, meaningful meetings should be regular.

v) The Zonal Inspectorate’s basic responsibilities are found to be non-satisfactory and therefore, the Ministry of Education will commence an overhaul and reorganization exercise of the units with immediate effect.

vi) Deliberate efforts would be made towards separation of the students based on gender as well as in other similar schools.

vii) Vacated section by the Bauchi State University at the school, will be put into immediate use with a view to separating the students on gender basis.

viii) Security in the school would be intensified.

ix) Clubs and Societies are to be closely monitored by their patrons henceforth, for decency and moral values.

x) Guidance and Counselling Units are to be established and made functional where there is none.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS:

xi) Having observed that, a similar and more graphic moral decadence is thriving or rearing its head also in private schools, the authority of the Ministry of Education have had a meeting with the proprietors of some of the figured private schools, followed by a final meeting with the Deputy Governor, Nuhu Gidado, on Friday 17th March, 2017, and resolved to revoke the operation licenses with immediate effect from the end of this year’s statutory examinations timetable, of the following schools:
a) ANN’S KINGS AND QUEENS COLLEGE, BAUCHI.
b) B) HAVARTH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, FEDERAL LOW COST, BAUCHI.

xii) The Association of Private Schools’ Proprietors has, accordingly, been challenged to put heads together towards reversing the unacceptable menace.

xiii) For the avoidance of doubt, all manners of questionable or morally unfit mode of dressing and/or display of indecency in all schools will not be condoned henceforth.
