Unknown Gunmen Set Palace Of Traditional Ruler, 2 Persons Ablaze In Imo

The Royal Palace of the Traditional Ruler of Obor Autonomous Community in Orlu LGA, Imo State, HRH Eze Obi Ralph Ekezie, has been set afire by some unknown gunmen at about 4:00 pm on Thursday, Sept.30th, 2021.

His kingdom is a neighboring community to Omuma, to the hometown of the Imo Governor, Sen.Hope Uzodinma in his hometown in Orlu LGA of the State.

Some eyewitnesses, who spoke to newsmen in confidence, said the arson caused some damages to the monarchs’ property and two other buildings belonging to some members of the community were set ablaze also.

Those who witnessed the ugly incident said the fire was later put out by the combined efforts of good-spirited individuals in the community.

The Monarch, Eze Ekezie, who spoke to the journalists on the phone, confirmed the incident but blamed those he described as enemies of progress in his community for the burning of his palace.

The Royal Father furthermore said he was monitoring the sad event from his abode in Owerri City Capital of Imo State.

Eze Ralph, however, expressed sadness, saying the level of damage can’t be ascertained now until whenever he returns to his country home, Obor.

The Imo State Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr. Michael Abattam, who was contacted, said the command was not aware of such an incident.
