UNIJOS Registrar Absence Stalls Continuation Of Hearing On Alleged Certificate Forgery Against Baba-Hassan

The absence of Registrar of the University of Jos,  last week stalled court proceedings over an alleged certificate forgery on Hon.Ibraahim Baba Hassan.

 

The matter pending before justice, Musa Kurya,  of the Jos decision of the Federal High Court 2, came up for ruling on 7 applications seeking for admissibility of tendered documents as plaintiff exhibits and continuation of hearing, for cross examination of the Registrar.

 

Justice Kurya, said having carefully studied the argument of counsels, further ruled in favour of the plaintiff and subsequently admitted the tendered documents and marked as exhibit 7 to 11.

 

After the ruling, a mild drama ensued having the plaintiff counsel, Barr.  David C. Ibeawuchi, told the court that he had additional witness to testify before they closed their case, thereafter applied for accelerated hearing on the matter, how however told that he observed that Registrar still on oath before the Court has written to inform the court that the National University has invited all University Registrars for one week executive retreat and therefore can appear in the court.

 

“I only saw my witness letter dated 7th May, 2018, this morning in the court, so I am not aware that he has written a letter to the court registrar regarding his retreat,” Councel Ibeawuchi said.

 

However, counsels to the 1st,  2nd and 3rd, defendants frowned at the manner in which the plaintiff has been using the media to mislead cause disaffection between among supporters of the APC, by delaying the matter.

 

They applied for payment of cost to the tune of N50,000, for the 1st defendant, N20,000 each to the 2nd and 3rd defendants, but justice Kurya, declined the application.

 

Justuce Kurya, frowned at the absence of the Registrar, saying the plaintiff counsel is only liar.

 

“I don’t believe you, you are a liar to say that you don’t know anything about the letter and the absence of the Registrar, but only this morning when you arrived the court premises, is not true,” justice Kurya said.

 

However, the matter has been adjourned to 6 June,  2018, for continuation of hearing.
