Following the aftermath of the Plateau State Local Government congress that was held across the State the electoral appeal panel have received two petition in Barkin-Ladi, one in Langtang North LGA and Jos North LGA.
The Chairman of the panel Ibrahim Abdullahi, Hon. Mrs Esther Tawasimi member and Barr. Mue Clement secretary disclosed that the Congresses took place in 16 LGAs out of the 17 LGAs in Plateau State due to inconclusive ward congresses in Shendam LGA and the committee resumed sitting on the 29th August, 2024 at party secretariat.
Two Members of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau State have withdrawn suit challenging the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Haj. Saadatu Awatai, Ali Saad (on behalf of PDP Jos North LGA, Hon. Aminu Abdullahi (Ag Chairman, PDP Jos North LGA executive and independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC)
The presiding judge, Honourable Justice G.D. Fwomyou has withdrawn and stroke out the suit as he commended parties for not allowing the matter to continue which is an internal affairs of the party.
He urged the those involved to stop parading themselves as the party officials as the matter is resolved henceforth.
However, when the matter came up for mentioned, counsel to the claimants ,Mr Munir B. Abdullahi informed the court that the matter was slated for hearing, and he has filed an application for discontinuance which is brought in pursuant to the inherent jurisdiction of this Honourable court.
He told the court that parties are served and he adopted it for the purpose of proceedings with no objections from the respondents/Objectors represented by S.P.Zhattau .
In his notice of discontinuance brought pursuant to the inherent jurisdiction of this Honourable court,seven grounds were listed:
That the Claimants filed this suit when the appeal panel report was not made available to them by the committee.
That the appeal panel report has now been received by the Claimants.
That the appeal panel report is now in favour of the Claimants.
That the PDP National working committee (NWC) had adopted the appeal panel report recommendation.
That there is need to discontinue this suit.
That the appeal panel report and the list as approved by the PDP National working committee (NWC) are attached to this notice marked as “A” and “B” respectively.
The Hausa /Fulani Development and political Forum of Plateau State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in its letter dated 31st July,2024 to the Acting Chairman of PDP Jos North LGA,read,” submission of two names for the position of PDP LGA secretary and assistance PRO that was zoned to Hausa Fulani community Jos North , Plateau State.
According to the counsel, Munir Abdullahi the name of Hon Danjuma Balance Falke and Hon. Bala Malele for the positions of LGA secretary and assistance PRO respectively as zoned to Hausa Fulani community Jos North LGA.
He said, the leadership of Garba Daho ward and Ibrahim Katsina ward through consensus mandate forwarded Hon. Danjuma Balan Falke and Hon Bala Malele but the twist create acrimony amongst the supporters of PDP Jos North chapter.
The counsel to Hausa Fulani community,Mr Munir Abdullahi says the petition before the appeal panel was for the removal of the names of Saadatu Awatai and Ali Wales from the list submitted by the Local Government electoral committee as the names where never submitted by Hausa Fulani community leadership and to be replaced by Hon . Danjuma Balan Falke and Hon Bala Malele so the other should stop parading themselves as the Exco as NWC had completed the replacement.
He disclosed that the PDP Jos North LGA Executive committee aspirants for the position of secretary and assistant PRO for the Jos North LGA congress election that was held on the 28th August, 2024 assert as follows:
That when the time table for the conduct of LGA Congresses were published by the PDP National Headquarters, Jos North PDP stakeholders sat and zone the various offices to communities within.
That the positions of the LGA secretary and assistance PRO was zoned to Hausa Fulani community and the leadership were asked to submit their names for the positions listed.
That the Hausa Fulani community submitted the list were they overwhelmingly accepted so the names of approved Jos North LGA executive committee members for 2024 -2028 include; Elijah Azi Itsegor Chairman, Dung Yakubu Lot Deputy Chairman, Young Orhobor Treasurer, Hon Danjuma Bala Falke Secretary, Yakubu T.Kankani Assistance Sec, Aweyi Umaru Igej Financial, Hon Bala Malele publicity sec, Akli Sa’ad assistant PRO, John Yunana Haruna organizing Sec, Itumu David Yakubu Auditor, Barr. Peter Obi Ezeama Legal officer, Barr Cachollom Dazong Women leader, Anthony Nyam Youth leader, Gokir J.James Ex-officio 1, Barr. Francis Ascikenone Ex-officio 2, Ishaya Bwede Ex-officio 3 , Joseph Okup Ex-officio 4 and Dauda Izanoi Ex-officio 5.
