The Untold Story Of Bauchi Commissioner Of Finance Resignation: Real Reason Why Manu Soro Resigned

A few days ago, the media was inundated with news of the resignation of Mr. Nura Manu Soro, the Commissioner of Finance, Bauchi State. Mr. Manu Soro made a post on his Facebook and Twitter Page announcing his resignation.

Though he didn’t give a reason why he resigned, sources told Universal Reporters he resigned because the governor was making arrangements to redeploy him from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development to Ministry of Youth and Sports as he reshuffles his cabinet.

As gathered by Universal Reporters Mr. Manu Soro was having problems with workers in the Ministry and was also accused of insubordination. As one of the big spenders during the campaign of the governor, Mr. Manu Soro had earlier insisted that he wanted only the post of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

And when he couldn’t get that because he was thought to be inexperienced since he hasn’t gotten any public service experience, he told the governor it was either Commissioner of Finance or nothing. The governor obliged to his inordinate demand and appointed him the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development.

According to Universal Reporters findings from sources within the Ministry, Mr. Manu Soro was not able to establish a harmonious working relationship with people in the Ministry. Several efforts were made by the governor, our sources revealed, “to reconcile the youthful Commissioner with his workers in the Ministry”, but there was no breakthrough. The governor, during the State Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, 16th October 2019 announced the redeployment of some Commissioners, including Mr. Manu Soro.

It was gathered by this medium that it was while the State Executive Council meeting was on that he typed on social media that he has resigned. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado said that the State Government has not officially received any resignation letter from him. According to Mr. Gidado, “he (Mr. Manu Soro) had posted the purported resignation in his personal Twitter and Facebook accounts.”

Some media houses have speculated that he resigned because of security votes. “His resignation has nothing to do with security votes,” our source revealed. “He resigned because he was going to be redeployed from Finance to the Youths and Sports Ministry.

All efforts to reach my Mr. Manu Soro to respond  to the above issues proved abortive, as he didn’t answer calls placed to his telephone, as at the time of filing this story.
