The Money You Are Paying For The Maintenance Of Police Chopper Is Enough To Pay Workers Salary, ASUSS Chairman Tells Al-Makura

The Association of Senior Civil Servants in Nasarawa State has chided governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura for the present predicament of workers in the state, the state chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, Comrade Agbashi gave the disclosure during the Association 4th Quadrennial state delegates conference held at Ibrahim Abacha Youth Centre, Lafia.

Agbashi expressed displeasure over the lifestyle of the state governor whom he said expended colossal amount of money on the maintenance of police chopper while majority of civil servants wallow in pains, saying the huge tax-payers money wasted on police chopper should be channeled into payment of civil servants,

He however said workers in Nasarawa state are treated with disdain, he listed some of the hasty policies of the state governor to include salary cut, nonpayment of August and September salaries.

Comrade Agbashi described the “no work, no pay policy as the worst policy of the incumbent administration, “The government with the policy ended up killing our colleague, another hasty policy he listed also include lack of prompt payment of salary.

Also other members expressed dismay over the attitude of the state government over the plight of civil servants in the state.

Comrade Iya also expressed dismay over the way and manner the state governor handle workers welfare in the state, “workers are not happy with the governor.

The Head of Service while declaring the delegates’ conference open said the payment of percentage to workers can be attributed to the lean resource accrued to the state, saying government is on top of the situation.

“The percentage payment, it be recalled what is happening with workers salary was the agreement we reached with the organized labour that if salary is meager we should keep the salary till the following month”,

“What is obtainable is the outcome of the collective bargain between the union and the government side”.

The director labour who represented the Head of Service debunked the rumor going round that government is chasing workers away from their houses along Nasara Housing Estate, an estate allocated to members of the state Assembly.

“We did not chase anybody from those houses rather we are trying to create space to others.

“The state government has monetized the entitlement of lawmakers for that reason they are not entitled to a house”.

The state chairman of the Association, Danladi Namo was re-elected, he got 35 votes against his opponent Abdullahi Oseyi who score 31 votes.
