The Debunking False Media Report, Incessant Attacks, Killings, Cow Rustling And Destruction Of Properties Of The Fulani Herdsmen In Berom (Fan) And Irigwe (Bassa) Dominated Areas On The Plateau

We write to express our shock and dismay over the false media report that has went viral against us, alleging that we have admitted carrying out violent attacks on some communities in Plateau State.

It is of paramount importance to address an issue of falsehood meted on us by some sections of the media particularly, the Nation Newspaper and the Premium Times online, alleging that Fulani herders had admitted carrying out a, “retaliatory attacks because our cattle were killed.”

The stories or reports were only but mere falsehood and open hatred against by the said media outfits that carried them.

We make bold to say that Alhaji Danladi Chiroma, has never made such a stupid statements, the truth about the whole news are unfounded and the media houses are only acting on the script of our enemies, in order to tarnish our good reputation.

For the record, it is our firm resolutions that we demand prove of such assertions allegedly credited or attributed to Danlandi Chiroma, we also demand for an unreserved published retractions and apology from both media outfits, to avoid engaging into litigation.

While we hereby in this Statement made our position on the incessant killings of Fulani herdsmen, Cow rustling and destruction of properties by the Berom and Irigwe Militia on the Plateau. These are common in Fan District of Barkin-Ladi and Bassa Local Government Area.

On the resurgence of the unfortunate and condemnable violence in our State, the Fulani Community has been nursing and patient over the situation for quite a long time.

On Thursday June 22, 2018 Abdullahi Muhammad, Bala Audi (Driver) Ibrahim Isa Muhammad and Lawal Dangana were attacked and killed on their way from Bukuru Kara Cattle Market at Heipang District of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area. In the same vein, their dead bodies were yet to be recovered by the security. The cow and the Peugeot 404 pick-up Van were burnt to ashes.

Rafiu Yusuf and Dauda Yahaya were innocently surrounded and slaughtered on June 17, 2018 by some identified Berom militia, among which are; Achung  Dan’asabe, Yohana Dung, Sunday Arum, and Mai Anguwa Ishaya (Traditional Title Holder) all residents of Dorong Village in Fan District of Barikin Ladi Local Government Area.

On 10 June, 2018. Hassan Ciroma and Kabiru, Ardo Dalhatu were attacked by Berom Youths at Bassa village and sustained serious injuries who were now receiving treat in Ola Hospital, Jos.

On June 6, 2018 at Fanlo village of Fan District in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area, four (4) Fulani Herdsmen was attacked, one killed while the remaining 3 sustained serious injuries now receiving treatment.

Muhammad Jibrin was attacked while grazing and killed on June 6, 2018 and his 32 herd of cattle were carted away by the Irigwe youth.

Alh. Gidado Garba also recorded an unfortunate situation of matched herd of 28 cows to dead while 14 sustained serious injuries beyond survival on May 14, 2018 at Jol village of Riyom District in Riyom LGA.

In Bassa on June 19, 2018 the Irigwe Youths attacked and killed over 20 cows at Kamarun-chawai which are still yet to be recovered.

On June 20, 2018, Idris Manga was attacked and killed by the Irigwe Youths without any provocation.

Others include the attacked and the rustling of 30 cows belonging to Adamu Buba, 18 Dauda Adamu on April 20, 2018 and 48 at Maiyanga Village of Bassa Local Government Area on May 10, 2018.

On Saturday June 23, 2018, the Berom Youth went on rampage carrying sophisticated weapons looking for whom to attack and kill as usual. This had left them with no option than to attack Fulani communities and create illegal road blocks in Abuja – Jos road, Mangu- Jos road, Barkin-Ladi – Jos road and Maraban Jama’a – Gada biyu road and killed several innocent citizens travelling on the federal roads.

We are appealing to the Government of Plateau state and security operatives to assist us in investigating both the identified and unidentified militias reported to them in Barki-Ladi and Bassa Local Government Area for proper action.
