Teachers Should Go For Educational Qualification Or Else-TSC Chairman

Nasarawa State Chairman of Teachers Service Commission, Abubakar Galadima has said there is no going back on the dateline by the Commission given teachers teaching without educational qualification to obtain the prerequisites qualification before 2022.

 

The Educational qualification according to Galadima which was in tune with the best practices world over was not observed and respected in Nasarawa state; He disclosed this during State Congress of All Conference of Principals o of Nigeria, Nasarawa Southern zone.

 

He affirmed that the employment of graduates without prerequisites qualification in different feild has been the order of the day in Nasarawa state, confirming that with the available applications by graduates’ majority of applicants is either holder of Public Administration, Political Science and non-teaching courses.

 

Abubakar Galadima said the steps taken are to ensure sanity in the system which he attested would mold those lacking basic teaching qualification and skills.

 

“Only qualify person’s would be consider and those with Science certificate would be given ardent attention in our subsequent employment exercise”.

 

He challenged teachers in the state to ensure proper records of activities of various schools.

 

The Chairman expressed worried over the whereabouts of money generated from Parent Teachers Association but would not be remitted to the State Government collected would not be given.

 

“Teachers in such habit and those always absent from duty post would not go Scot free”.

 

He however explained that the Teachers Service Commission saddle with the responsibility of discipline teachers would deal with erring teachers, He added.

 

He opined that any teacher caught doing the wrong thing would be shown the way out of service, attesting that the State Government is ready to get the right crop of teachers that would add value to the educational sector.

 

Urging Principals and teachers to cooperate with the host Communities where their schools are located.

 

The Chairman averred that the Commission would not entertain any Principal and teachers resisting posting or transfer.

 

Abubakar Galadima also challenged principals as heads of school to ensure the proper record keeping.

 

He further disabuses the mind of some Principals and teachers referring to “wait for your time syndrome which is not helping the system to grow.

 

“I want to erase doubt amongst teachers that nothing is working or moving, everything is working”.

 

The State Chairman of National Association of Parents Teachers of Nigeria, Ebenya in his speech faulted the State Government over the dwindling of Primary and Secondary education.

 

He attributed lack of prompt payment of salaries, absence of vehicle allocated to Education Secretaries as it was obtainable in those days as some of the itching hiccups facing the educational sector.

 

He tasked heads of schools especially Principals to conduct interview for fresher to test their intellectual before given admission to JSS 1..

 

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Muhammed Bala expressed concerned over the way and manner heads of schools support examination malpractice in their schools, portraying the State in a bad light.

 

According to him,” In some of our schools ,Though I will not mention name, A principal was caught bribing staff of West Africa Examination Council as well as allowing people to impersonate in Examination hall.

 

He explained that to the gathering the case of 25 Principals who were asked to write reports from their various schools instead the remaining Principals end up copying from their colleague.

 

He further said, “After reading the first letter, the second and the rest are photocopies of the first writer.

 

He added that the State Government is poised to inject new ideas to the Ministry as soon as possible.

 

The President of ANCOPSS, Christopher Ogiri thanked the the State Government and all other stakeholders for been supportive.
