Task force from the national headquarters of the Federal Inland Revenue has sealed up business premises over tax evasion, the team comprises of armed mobile police force with selected personnel from the Lafia office.

Business premises sealed include Conference Hotel, Lafia, a hotel owned by the Nasarawa State Government and a subsidiary of the moribund Nasarawa Investment and Property Development Company.

It was further revealed that the headquarter of the company, the popular glass house along Jos road was also sealed by the task force, other affected business premises are Savannah Guest Inn, Black and White.

Insider from the FIRS, Nasarawa state confided to universalreporter247.com that the largest rice  farm in Africa, Olam Farms Limited are not paying to Lafia office, the reaction follows a called by the company to grant them tax holiday.

It could be recalled that the Public Relation Manager of the Company, Abubakar Ogashuwa in a telephone interview recently opined that the company expended chunk amount of money as taxes to tax authorities.

An insider confided from FIRS that Olam Farms Limited paid tax to Lagos office, adding that no single file of Olam Farms is in Federal Inland Revenue Service office in Lafia.

It was revealed that not the company tax but all sorts of taxes like education tax hang on the balance.

The controller, FIRS Nasarawa state office, Etebong Udoh declined comment on the sealing of business premises that defaulted to payment of tax.

Instead directed selected Journalists to contact the director in- charge of enforcement to comment on operations carryout on Friday last week.

“I’m not mandated to talk to the press except with clearance from our head office,” said Udoh.
