Member representing Irigwe /Rukuba in Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon Simon Kudu has called on government to take action by calling security personnel to order and to obey sanctity of human live .

He also said Middle Belt Leaders have been called upon to rise up and defend Its people from the hands of the killer Fulanis before they are wiped out.

Member representing Irigwe /Bassa Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly, Hon. Simon Kudu made this call Friday while speaking with our correspondent on the recent attacks within Rafiki, Dutsen Kura, Dundu and other parts on Bassa local government area of plateau state leaving several lives lost and properties destroyed.

He said the security personnel, part curly the Nigerian Army has betrayed the confidence of defending and protecting the lives and properties.

According to him, at the circumstances where attacks were being carried out close to check points mounted by security apparatus and nothing has been done to arrest and persecute the perpetrators is unacceptable.

He however stressed the need for government to make efforts towards checking the perceived complacency of the security apparatus in handling security affairs and call me them to other.

The law maker expressed dismay over the continually attacks on helpless farmers and government is not doing much to protect them, saying it deeply pains them that when resolutions are passed by Assembly members to find  remedy to the problems no action would be taken by government to implement them.

He said, “If the government and its security would not live up its responsibilities to protect live and properties of the cirizens, let them declare that citizens should protect themselves.

“It beat my imagination that these attacks have continued unabated, last time when the President was in Jos, the attacker’s invaded Bokkos local government area and since he left there has been series of killings in my constituency. So to me I can say that this people has QN agenda to wipe us out, and I think our leaders should stop pretending but should empower our youth to defends themselves”.

He blames the Middle Belt Governors of, particularly governor Lalong of not keying into the Anti Open Grazing Law that has been put in place by other states governors to find a lasting solution to herdsmen/ farmers conflict.

He said the house has been yearning for an executive bill to that effect to be presented to the house by the governor, but to no avail. “When we saw that the governor was not willing to step forward with an executive bill seeking to prohibit open grazing, we decided to say let us sponsor it as a private bill, but our APC members did not support it, and you know they are the majority in the house so there is nothing we could do”.

He comened the insinuations being peddled by most speakers that they natives in the state have been in clashes with the Fulani Herdsmen. “How can you say it is a communal clash between Fulanis and our people? It has been always being the Fulani that do come to attack our people. So we should find ways of addressing this matter once and for all”? He added.
