Suspected Armed Robber Apprehended, Locally Made Pistol Recovered In Imo

In a decisive crackdown on crime, the Imo Police Command announced on Saturday, June 15, 2024, that operatives from the Shell Camp Divisional Headquarters apprehended a suspected armed robber during a routine patrol.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 13, 2024, along Bank Road, Owerri.

The suspect, identified as Ogochukwu Favour David, was caught by vigilant officers who observed a group of hoodlums assaulting and robbing a young woman. Acting swiftly, the officers managed to arrest David, while his accomplices fled the scene.

Upon searching the suspect, the officers recovered a locally made pistol. The police are now intensifying efforts to capture the remaining culprits and trace the origin of the homemade firearm.

The suspect is currently undergoing a thorough investigation and will face judicial proceedings in due course. The Commissioner of Police praised the officers for their commendable performance and urged them to maintain their diligence in combating violent crime.

He also appealed to the citizens of Imo State to continue their invaluable support by providing actionable intelligence to the police and other security agencies, emphasizing that ensuring security is a collective responsibility.
