Sule Lamido Says Makarfi  Faction Will Participate In LGA Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Makarfi’s faction in Jigawa said that they will not contest for the upcoming July 1st 2007 local government election because there is a court order that has restrained the Jigawa Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC ) from conducting the election.

The former Governor of the state, Alhaji Sule Lamido stated this while presenting flags to those that will contest for chairmanship under his party in Dutse on Friday.

Lamido said that JSIEC has insisted that they will go ahead to conduct the local government election slated on 1st July 2017 despite the court order served them.

He said the election that JISIEC wants to organize is an election of mad people between mad people” pointing out that nobody is above the law or an order from court.

The former Governor said they are ready to contest the election but until all issues pending in court was resolved.

When contacted, the Chairman of JISIEC Alhaji Sani Ahmad could not be reached, but the Legal Adviser of the Commission, Barrister Adamu Muktar confirmed that the election will take place as stipulated.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) observed that there are heavy security men hanging around the premises of the Agency in preparation for the election that will take place tomorrow.

Investigation by NAN revealed that the court order served by the Federal High Court Dutse Presided over by Justice  Sabiu Yahuza  to JISIEC following an experte order filed by PDP Makarfi’s faction that restrained  the commission from conducting the election is still in force  until  sustentative  case was heard  about the matter will be heard on the 20th September, 2017.
