Stop Politicizing Football-Nasarawa Sports Commissioner Warn Politicians

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honorable Bamaiyi Anangba has raised alarm over the activities of politicians in Nasarawa United Football club.

The Commissioner in a chat with Journalists challenged politicians not to impose unqualified players as footballers in the feeder team.

Anangba stated this during an interview with newsmen at the ministry of Youth and Sports.

He however averred that politicians have infiltrated the feeder team causing serious challenges to Sports development.

“Imagine a single politician would brought no fewer than 12 players alone while some of them would brought over 20 players whether they are qualified or not.

While responding on the allegations of nonpayment of allowances to players, the Commissioner maintained that the team is on one month leave.

“Players are on one month leave but are claiming of working for one month without allowances, this not acceptable by the ministry.

“This is clear contravention of rules of engagement “Honorable Bamaiyi Anangba disclosed.

Stating that Nasarawa United has a total of 218 players, having 67 players in the feeder team but only 12 players are constant in training.

The Commissioner hinted that majority of the players are not in the state, saying they are either in school or doing something different and at the end would demand for allowances.

“Gone are the days couches and players included names of ghost players, he explained that 8 players has been relieve from Nasarawa United football club.

Adding that the committee set up to look into the rising spate of unqualified players.
