Staff Of NNPC Protest Proposed Sale Of Refineries

About 200 staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation on Thursday in Abuja protested against the proposed sale of the Nation’s as they also vowed to resist the decision.

It will be recalled that the Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has stated recently that the privatisation  of the refineries will be done before the end of the quarter of 2014.
The protest is being carried out by the workers under the the aegis of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers Senior Staff Association and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, dressed in red shirts and red cap were there as early as 8 am this morning.

The protesters were led by the NNPC PENGASSAN Group Chairman, Sanusi Abdulkareem, and NUPENG Group chairman, Richard Otuvwere, as some of the placards being carried by them reads;  ‘We say no to illegal sale of our refineries, we cannot be fooled anymore’. ‘Hide not under privatisation to hijack our refineries’, etc.
