Special Task Force Member Killed By Protesting Women In Plateau By Yakubu Busari, Jos

At  least one “Operation Rainbow” personnel  attached  to Special Task Force, STF who is  stationed in Barkin Ladi Local Government  Area of Plateau state was killed by  protesting women.

The Protesters in their thousands in Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau state  yesterday morning took to the street   barricading    major roads  linking Mangu-Barkin Ladi causing traffic jams and attacking innocent citizens .

The report gathered by our correspondent  indicates that the women set many vehicles ablaze destroying some building allocated to STF, where  many people sustained various degrees of injuries.

As at the time of filing this report, it remained unclear why the Operation Rainbow officer was killed or the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to a source the road between Barkin-Ladi and Mangu was closed out by the women with Traffic holding up to several kilometers.

All efforts to disperse the situation has proven abortive as the restiveness has remained unabated. The STF personnel were  still on site as at the time of filing in this report.

In another development Qu’anpan council boss leads protest to INEC over poor PVC registration. 

In the meantime, angry youths have demanded  for additional two week extension of the ongoing voter registration in the state to accommodate all complaints and disagreements with two-day extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

The group said that the two days declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)is inadequate to capture the affected Polling Units of the acclaimed Zero registration.

The Plateau State police command spokesman DSP ,Emmanuel Abuh confirmed that the commissioner of Police ,CP Nasiru Oki have gone to the scene of the attack and promised to give feedback with more details of what led to the death of the officer .

He added that the situation right now had been brought under control by security personnel deployed this morning.
