Sopp Community In Riyom Plateau Accuses Special Task Force(STF) Of Using Chemicals To Poisoned Two Of Its Youths To Death(See Photos Of Those Injured Inside)

The Sopp Community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State has accused the Special Task Force, STF, manning checkpoints in sector 9 unit of Riyom of allegedly shouting a 15-year-old girl, Miss Simi Danladi on her thigh. The community accused them also of allegedly killing two young boys whom they told to dig a well for them. The alleged onslaught of the Special Task Force didn’t end there as they were accused of shooting a 16-year-old boy whose mouth was shattered by the gunshots, as well his father who was also wounded during the alleged attack.

As gathered by this medium, the people of Sopp community of Riyom LGA said they have deposited the corpses of their children who were killed by chemical inside a well in the mortuary.

According to a youth leader in the area he said, he was present at the scene of the incident when the issue happened as he added that four persons at the moment are now receiving treatment from bullets wound at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.

The youth leader, Mr. Solomon Dachung revealed this while taking journalists to the hospital, where he described the incident as unfortunate and inhuman, for someone sent to protect you would turn out be your threat.

He disclosed that ” there is an abandoned well that was dug in 1985 near a checkpoint, so the security men at this checkpoint saw these youths the asked them to enter the well and excavate it for them to use, but the first group refused and left.

“When these three guys came, they forced them to enter the well; the first entered and could not come out, same as the second one. So when they asked the third guy to enter, he solicited that a rope be tied on his waists, which was done, as he was entering he realized that the smell of something like a chemical or gas, making him believed that the well may have been poisoned or there were too of gas inside the well, he shouted to be pulled out, by then the two who went in earlier were already suffocated and died.”

“When he noticed that the STF showed no concern about the death of these two young men, the community raised alarm leading to the youths protesting, on arriving there, the STF guys opened fire on them resulting to them shooting three youths.

Efforts to speak with the local authorities there failed, as the phone numbers of the transition committee Chairman of the area, Danboyi Jugul was not reached.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau state command, Terna Mathiase Tyopev confirms the incident, saying that they have received signal that they have engaged the services of the youths, but said he is not aware if there have been casualties to that effect.

One of the victims who was seen with a bullet wound on his left leg, Danjuma Kaze, told our correspondent that he was shot.

“When the youths started protesting, one of the officers fired my son, when I jumped and grabbed him he shouted saying he was trying to disarm him, and soldier turned and shot me in the leg”.

He said he will be able to identify the mobile Policeman, by face and not by name because they all removed their name.

On seeing what happened to his son, the father of the affected boy decided to engage the soldiers, where he was equally shot on the leg with the allegation that he was trying to disarm the army personally.

Simi, the 16-year-old girl that was shot in her leg, claimed one of the soldiers had wanted to befriend but she refused and since that day, the officer promised to deal with her, she alleged.

The youth leader in Riyom local government said he met the youths agitating and scattering the army’s tent in the area following the death of the two youths who were forcefully forced to clean the fumigated well and the army’s nonchalant attitude towards their death inside the well.

He said he had succeeded in controlling the demonstrating youths when suddenly the army resurfaced from nowhere and started shooting sporadically, as they shot a  young boy in his mouth as well shot the boy’s father who protested who protested the shooting of his son by the  Army.
