Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has criticized some of the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that while he supports certain aspects, their execution is flawed.
In an interview with Arise TV on Monday, El-Rufai explained that although he agrees with some of the government’s economic policies, he believes the sequencing of these reforms is incorrect. He also pointed out concerns about the caliber of individuals tasked with implementing these policies.
“I support some of Tinubu’s policies; most of the economic policies are the right orthodox ones, but the sequencing is wrong and the quality of the people carrying out these reforms leaves much to be desired. I also believe that some reforms are just wrong,” El-Rufai said.
He also highlighted issues with food inflation, stating, “You can’t tackle food inflation by destroying domestic agriculture. Food prices might drop, but farmers are being impoverished as they’re forced to compete with subsidized agricultural products from Europe and other countries. I have concerns with many of these policies, and I regularly share my views with senior officials in the administration privately.”
