The Management committee of Riyom Local Government Area, Hon. Mafeng Gwallson on Tuesday appealed to the Federal government to strive hard towards ending insurgency in Plateau state.
Gwallson made the disclosure when he sworn-in the secretary of the council, Mr Kurt Demes secretary as well as Mr Luka Alamba ,Davou Dalyop Jugu ,Dung Victoria Stephen ,,”’Ntoy Gyang Gwoms and Dangyang Hassan Dachollom as councillors .
He said, following the destructions by the insurgents in Riyom and its environs, we need urgent step to be taken to bring an end to the killing and destruction of lives and property of innocent citizens.
Gwallson added that “Today is an important day in the life of the people of the council and seek the intervention of the Federal Republic of Nigeria stop the mayhem.
“He appealed to the federal government to have on-the-spot assessment of the situation on the ground and see the number of displaced persons.
Gwallson described some gory picture of massacre victims of brutality on the internet as an act of inhumanity to man but also promised to bring back restoration to the council.
He assured the former Chairman and councillors of the upsetting outstanding salary of the sacked councillors who has served and also helps in the peace building process.
The state the council is suffering from absence of social amenities and banks to help stimulate the people toward progressive mind, he added.
Gwallson said, he will give top priority to the area, prune with constant killing and destruction of lives and property by calling for the team to work arduously to return back the peace and love in Riyom LG.
“We also want to empathise with our people who are victims of the violent activities of the misguided elements who call themselves Boko Haram.”
Gwallson said the government of Governor Simon Lalong is working round the clock to provide democracy dividends.
