Shocker As 3 Lecturers Of College Education, Akwanga Faces Stiff Penalty For Change Of Institution Without The Consent Of TETFUND

Three staff of the College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State are suffering the temerity of their action for changing Institution without the prior notice of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund after collecting N29, 000,000 Million to go for further studies in U.K, Cyprus and Malaysia respectively.

 

The affected staff are Rilwan Yahaya,Jafaru Dogara and Danjuma Inarigu,it was reliably gathered that Rilwan Yahaya was given N27,000,000m to go to United Kingdom (U.K ) but ended going to Malaysia whose money for sponsorship was a whooping N9,000,000 Million.

 

Universalreporters.ng gathered that Jafaru Dogara also collected the sum of N29, 000,000 Million but ended up changing Institution without the consent of TETFUND.

 

Also Danjuma Inarigu who is also paying back through his nose was a beneficiary of the scholarship.

 

The Desk Officer of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, College of Education confided that the affected persons did not write to TETFUND that they would change their Institution.

 

This happened during 2015 intervention; he further said the victim’s salaries were deducted from their monthly salaries for two years.

 

“The Governing Council on June, 22 2019 resolved that they should be placed on half-salary considering their plight”.

 

On the sponsorship of staff, Madaki Benbela confirmed that 33 staff were sponsored from 2018-2019.

 

He maintained that 32 were sponsored locally in the country while one benefited from U.K sponsorship.

 

Benbela further added that the 32 that study within the country went for their PHD and MSC.

 

The Desk Officer also denied allegations of deductions of 2 percent from the amount of sponsorship.

 

He listed some of the success stories are library intervention which includes the procurement of Books, e-library, eBooks and hardware.

 

Other TETFUND projects are the renovation of one unit female hostel which was under 2001 project.

 

“The renovation of the dilapidated hostel was rebuilt by TETFUND through funds provided for project maintenance.

 

“TETFUND provided 2 Units toilet and procurement of Toyota Bus as well building of workshop complex which was at 98 percent completion”.
