Shippers Council Boss Vows To Make Africa Hub Of Seaports Business

The Zonal Coordinator North Central of Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr Maurice Effanga has vowed to embark on regulations of commercial activities of all operators in exporter/importers business in the country.

Represented by the Assistant Director operation, Chinyere Obere on Thursday in Jos North Local Government Council of Plateau state, he said this seminar will seek to expose various package options for commercial exports with the recommended and appropriate payment option to encourage the production of quality goods for export.

He maintained that it is to expose the fact that apart from oil, the federal government can generate much funds from shipping activities if all unnecessary barriers are removed.

Effanga assured the participants of the emerging benefits from their wealth of knowledge and experience after the seminar.

He urged them to make enriching contributions so that at the end they will come up with implementable recommendations on how to confront all the barriers inhibiting international trade which is affecting the West Africa sub region.

The Chairman of the occasion Gabriel Ad’Ofikwu in the, “theme, refocusing on government role in confronting the barriers in international trade as a balance against economic instability “, says, globalization and increased technological trade from the sphere of macro to micro economic consideration world over.

According to him, in spite of its known advantages come with intensive import of negative impacts with easy and quick destabilizing effect in nations particularly the developing economies which Nigeria is not exceptional to the current problem.

In addition trade barriers with negative consequences also affect chain of goods supply from exporters to products from Nigeria ,the impact of which has been the relative high cost of trade and the delays in business transaction such as imports to 33 days when Latin America enjoy 22 days for exports ,he added.
