Senator Onawo Urges NEMA To Bring  Succor To Over 100 Houses, Worship Centers, Schools Destroyed By Windstorm

Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, the Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District has urged the National Emergency Management Agency to has matter of urgency bring succor to the victims of windstorm that killed  2 persons, injured residents, destroyed houses, places of worship, economic trees, among others in Aloshi community as well as Keana, the headquarter of  Keana LGA, and Iponu community of Ekye Development Area, the administrative head of Ekye  in Doma Local Government Area all of the  State as well Agbashi.

This was contained in a letter addressed to NEMA by the Senator and made available to Universal Reporters by his Senior Legislative Aide, Dr. Ayuba James Akwe.

Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo encourages the victims to be strong and of good courage as God knows why this is coming at this time.

Senator Nasarawa South senatorial zone requests the affected communities not to be in despair.

The statement further buttressed that relevant Federal Government agencies are being contacted to provide succor to the affected victims and communities within the shortest possible time.

As he prays God to give the victims the strength to bear this colossal loss.

In a related development, Windstorm has wreaked havoc on the Agbashi community of Doma Local Government leading to the loss of two lives. The tragedy occurred on Tuesday evening as confirmed by the Acting Chairman, of the Agbashi Development Association, Mr. Anthony  Oshimyeka.

Speaking on the unfortunate incident, The Acting Chairman said over one hundred residential houses were destroyed including Agbashi Central mosque, Primary school, and other public buildings.

The Chairman called for urgent intervention from the State and Federal Governments to expedite action by finding a temporary abode for the affected families.

He further briefed that the Windstorm also wreaked havoc on Bassa settlements in Iponu, while describing the incident as quite unfortunate.
