Former Plateau State Governor, Senator Joshua Chibi Dariye, Ph.D, has expressed deep sadness over the passing of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the National Chairman of  All Progressives Congress, APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, who died on Sunday, 17 August  2025, at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, after a brief illness at the age of 83.

In a condolence message, Senator Dariye described the late Mama Lydia as a pillar of strength who nurtured her children in the fear of God while dedicating herself to the service of God and humanity.

He paid glowing tributes to the deceased for contributing immensely to the success of her late husband, Reverend Toma Goshwe Yilwatda, who served as a Minister of God with the Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN), which led to the growth of the Church in Plateau State and beyond.

Senator Dariye eulogised late Mama Lydia Yilwatda for leaving a lasting legacy of prayers, sacrifice, devotion, compassion, and humility, virtues that had reflected in the successes of her son, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, National Chairman of the APC.

The former Governor observed that her prayers, guidance, and motherly advice would be missed. Not only by her immediate family, but also by the church, the Christian Community, and beyond.

Senator Dariye equally condoled with the immediate family, COCIN, and the entire Christian community over the great loss, imploring all to imbibe her sterling qualities that were worthy of emulation by all.

On behalf of his family, friends and political associates, Senator Dariye prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest and give the entire family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
