Senator AbdulAziz Nyako, the chairman Senate Committee on Special Duties, Sen AbdulAziz Nyako, has said that plans has reached advance stage for the conduct of public hearing on North East Development Commission.
Speaking to newsmen in Yola, Nyako said that the bill which has passed second reading in both the senate and House of Representatives was now at committee level where it would be consolidated with a similar one sponsored by Sen Kabiru Gaya of Kano.
“As it is now, the bill is on my desk; the matter was referred to committee on special duties that I am the chairman after the second reading.” Nyako said
Nyako said all things being equal; the senate would resume next week where sponsors of the bill and members of the committee would meet to look at the consolidated bill before the public hearing.
Nyako said the bill was meant to address the devastation and socio-economic problem in the North East.
Nyako lauded the successes so far recorded by the military in degrading Boko Haram insurgents and called for sustain support for security agencies to accomplish the task.
