The Senate on Thursday 26th June 2025 confirmed the nomination of Dr. Cyril Tsenyil as Managing Director of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
Following the presentation of the screening report by Chairman of the Senate Committee on NCDC Sen. Titus Zam, the Senate also confirmed the nominations of the Chairman and members of the Board.
While confirming the nominations, the Senate said from the screening report and other engagements the appointment of Dr. Cyril Tsenyil, Chairman and other members of the Board is appropriate and there were not encumberances from confirming them.
It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the appointment of Dr. Cyril Tsenyil as Managing Director of the Northern Central Development Commission in May alongside others as members and Chairman of the Board.
As pioneer Managing Director of the NCDC, Dr Cyril Tsenyil has the task of steering the Commission into productivity as it addresses key challenges of infrastructure, manpower development, health, education as well as rehabilitation and rebuilding.
Working with the Board, he is expected to lead other members of the team in developing a blueprint for development of the North Central in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin who presided over the day’s plenary challenged the appointees to deliver and ensure that the people of the zone feel the impact of the government.
Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has hailed the confirmation and says he has confidence that Dr. Cyril Tsenyil will not let the President down.
With the confirmation by the Senate, Dr. Cyril and members of the Board are expected to be sworn in by the President before they begin operations.
