Sen. Danjuma Goje Vs EFCC Suit: Court Adjourns To 16th January, 2019 For Adoption Of Written Addresses

A Federal High Court sitting in Jos Division has adjourned to 16th January, 2019 for adoption of final written addresses between the Economic and financial Crime Commission, EFCC and Senator Danjuma Goje of Gombe state and 3 orders over contracts and diversion of public fund.

 

Justice Musa Kurya said the exercise is to enable the defendant counsel reply to the application earlier filed by the prosecution counsel to EFCC, Barr. Wahab Shittu.

 

The defendant counsel, SAN, Uche Chris Uche told the court that the application that the fixed against seeking for extension of time was in accordance with the motion filed by the prosecution counsel which their application was outside the time.

 

We have before this honourable court this morning is a motion for extension of time to regularize the court process with the kind permission of the court, “I beg to move for the application so that we can make progress.

 

However, the prosecution counsel, Barr. Wahab Shittu agreed that they are not objecting to his application dated 13th September, 2018 and filed on the 14th September, 2018 praying for another extension of time for the defendant to filed their defense and other similarly of 4 paragraph affidavit and accompanied the application .

 

According to SAN ,Uche Chris Uche ,there is a written address in support of the application asking the court to permit him move the application, as we hereby filed and served.

 

Counsel to EFCC Barr,Wahab complained that he has reply dated 23rd Nov, 2018  and was filed 29th November, 2018 ,we strongly served to the copies to the defendant this morning in other to assist the court filed the electronic copy .

 

However, the defendant counsel, Uche objected to the electronic copies saying they have to supply the defendant with the necessary documents.

 

The prosecution counsel told journalists that after closing the case with the 25 witnesses 45 days ago the defendant has not filed any single response,  we are ready to close defense with 305 pages ,adding ,unfortunately since September we have 14 days filed on point of law .

 

Counsel to Danjuma Goje disclosed that they are only witch hunting his clients by accusing EFCC as political dogs of the opposition.
