The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party,(SDP)Plateau State chapter and the Chairman, IPAC in 19 Northern States,Hon. Abubakar Dogara has disclosed that the party would still maintain the 1993 governorship seat to Plateau South for the interest of Justice and fear play so that they complete the remaining six year tenure of the former Governor Sir Fidelis N.Tapgun.
Hon .Dogara stated this during an interview with our medium in Jos, said Engr .Ponyah Ibrahim is the governorship candidate to complete the remaining tenure of Sir Fidelis Tapgun .
He said, ” political parties are facing a lot of challenges of funding and a majority of them lack the funds to generate polling units, agents ahead of the general election which is less than one month.
The INEC has placed them under hectic jobs of recruiting 4,989 agents across the 270 Federal wards in rural and urban cities due to scarce resources on the ground to mobilize people because those shortlisted might be asking for 200 to 300 passports to either provide them with or not “.
According to him, the 2023 elections, it is not business as usual, they created a poster to provide each of the polling units, and agents to upload the personal data in 4,989 polling units running into millions of Naira.
He decried that the money is not there for political parties to submit the lists of so where are we going to get this money?
Hon. Abubakar said that under the present challenges, the APC imposing of very poor performance and they have failed woefully to provide dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
He condemned in it totality the imposing of a Caretaker committee in Gombe Adamawa, and some states in Nigeria by calling on the governors to continue to promote the tenets of democracy.
Abubakar maintained that there are challenges in the country now because the country is more divided along religious and tribal, and we are moving toward a divided political time where parties are accusing of one-sided candidates with the current development Nigerian have opened their eyes to vote the right candidates that can unite us and also deliver the dividends of democracy.
He stressed that SDP is a popular party and APC& PDP are all afraid of our stronghold in Plateau just that APC happened to be claiming to have structure.
We have 207 federal wards and we have chairmen starting from the state down LGC , we are beginning to enjoy the structures.
He added that Fidelis Tapgun has not finished his remaining 8 years in office so we brought Engr.Ponyah Ibrahim to complete it.
Abubakar expressed worried that religious bodies have taken over the mandate to hijack the political space , the reason why these clergymen took over the political space is that our elected representatives have failed and nobody trust anyone even the traditional rulers are the only people that are enjoying the support of the electorate.
He disclosed that SDP is trying to bring back the lost glory and the confidence of the electorate if given the mandate to fulfill campaign promises.
