Nasarawa state Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has lament the high rate of mass exodus in the state as a bad signal,The Governor gave the hint while addressing Tiv stakeholders at Government House.
The Governor attested that the state will witness famine with the high rate of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) ,”Nasarawa state may run short of food”.
“We are heading towards doomsday if those IDP’s did not go back to their communities”. Adding that,”90 percent of Tiv people in Nasarawa are farmers”.
I witness that vast of the communities along Kadarko has displaced, “My journey to Giza last month I witness that people left their villages of Sarkin Noma, Kadarko ,Giza, Bature were displaced.
The Governor also lament absence of IDP’s in the five Local Governments as a major constraint affecting the IDP’s ,admitting that his office will ensure that relief material will get to the displaced persons.
Al-Makura commended the effort of Tiv stakeholders to honor his invitation,”i appreciate the gesture of Tivs in Nasarawa state for been law abiding citizens,He further aver that the meeting serves as new vista for peace to reign.
He however said the meeting with Tiv community will be extended to other ethnic nationalities all aim at bringing lasting solution to the fragile peace in the state.
He described the ongoing peace talk to “down to earth” meeting.
Leader of the delegation, Barrister Gabriel Akaka while briefing journalist on the deliberation of the close door meeting with the chief executive said a committee has been set up.
He further aver that the committee was saddle with the responsibility of bringing back all displaced Tiv to their communities, describing the holistic effort of the state Government as good tidings.
Gabriel Akaka buttressed that the practical steps taken was heart to heart aimed at curbing the lingering lacuna that rock the state, Has assured that in the next two weeks all refugees outside their communities will return to their abode.
