Sanitation: Mobile Court Fine Offenders, Impounds Vehicles In Bauchi

bauchi1The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency said it has fined offenders the sum of N5000 each for violating sanitation orders throughout out last Saturday sanitation day  in the state.

This was just as the agency also impounded several vehicles belonging to categories of sanitation violators for refusing to observe the sanitation period.

Magistrate Umar  Ilela made the statement while delivering judgment against the violators following their poor attitude and negligence to critically adhere sanitation orders last Saturday’s of every month.

Those affected according to Magistrate Ilela are mostly shops owner within Bauchi metropolis including vehicle owners for defying orders even when movement was restricted throughout the sanitation period.

“What the mobile court has done will surely serve as a deterrent to people in future especially violators of sanitation days in the state” said Ilela.

The magistrate had wondered why people keep defying sanitation orders and open their shops with vehicular movement during the period of sanitation.

According to him, sanitation has advantages in  the prevention of cholera and other killer diseases  so there is urgent need to embrace the exercise.

The agency he maintain has done a lot in keeping the entire state as a safe haven towards environmental cleanliness saying, the mobile court will not succumb to any intimidation to actualise its mandates in line with laid down government laws.

It therefore seeks public understanding and support to always adhere strictly during the period of sanitation day’s which is only once in a month.
