Sack Bamanga Tukur And Gulak Now Says Gov. Wamakko; As They Are Received By Thousands Of Party Supporters

Speaker Aminu Tambuwal and Governor Wamakko received by Mammoth Crowd at Sultan Abubakar III  Intl. Airport
The Sokoto governor, Aliyu Wamakko, has insisted that he has no intention of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but he advised that the PDP chairman, Bamanga Tukur, be immediately removed from office.

While addressing a throng of party supporters who came in their thousands to the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport and the state Government House, to welcome him back from an overseas trip, the governor said he had done a lot for the party in Sokoto state and outside the state.

“I have also been a loyal and proud member of the party and I have been helping in ensuring its growth and unity both here in the state, other states and at the national level ,’’ the governor said.

In his view, only genuine internal democracy can save the party ahead of the 2015 elections and that cannot be provided with Bamanga Tukur at the helm. He said the fight by the people of the state was not a fight against the PDP, but a fight against injustice and unfairness.

“Tukur is running the affairs of PDP as more of a private enterprise,” he said.

He recounted how the PDP was a basically non-existent party in Sokoto before his arrival in the party which he then led to victory in all the polls conducted in the state in 2011. He said no one can intimidate him as only God can give or take away leadership.

In addition to the removal of Tukur, the Sokoto governor gave an advise specifically to Pres. Jonathan, asking him to sack Alhaji Ahmed Gulak, his Political Special advise,r on grounds of ignorance and incompetence.

The speaker of the house of representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, was present at the rally in a party defying move. He assured Gov. Wamakko of the people’s unalloyed support to him as well as to the PDP.

“The PDP under the leadership of Wamakko in the state remains a united political family.

“So the purported suspension is of no effect to us and there is no retreat or surrender. Wamakko will continue to be our leader even after he finished his term as a governor,” he said.
